How to Age Backwards:
Or How to Die Young as Late as Possible
Getting older is inevitable but aging is optional. The emerging science of aging has opened up the possibility of avoiding the killers of old age – diabetes, heart disease, cancer and dementia. Since we have defined the mechanisms of abnormal aging we now have a clear path to not only reverse them, but also to optimize our biology using the principles of Functional Medicine. Inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, changes in the gut microbiome, alterations in hormones and blood sugar regulation, and toxic overload all drive aging. Novel diagnostics and treatments can correct these disturbances and help you age backwards.

How to Be Better in Bed:
Sleep for Peak Performance
Do you have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep? Or, do you get sleepy during the day—a sign you might not be getting enough sleep? Dr. Breus provides an insider’s view of Sleep Coaching at the Highest Level. This session is filled with case studies and real-world examples of how he “tweak’s” sleep. For example, the audience will follow John, a 45 year old executive, who is a Type-A, fatigued, CEO, who can’t turn his brain off at night, travels weekly, and reports feeling unrefreshed in the mornings, but needs to push on through his day (that’s code for caffeinating himself). We review his new supplement regimen, his bedroom makeover (he needed a new mattress and pillow), then follow his genetic testing to identify areas of future concern, and where he can get a “Sleep Edge” currently. This is a never-before seen aspect of Dr. Breus’ practice which he is now willing to share.
Saturday, January 11 / 1:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.

The Longevity Revolution
The average life span of someone born in 1900 was 47 years. Since then, improvements and discoveries in science and medicine have added approximately two years per decade to that average. Remarkably, a child born today can expect to live over 100 years. Mankind and medicine have done a lot to increase lifespan over the last century; now it is time to accelerate these advances to increase health span, or the healthy years of life. We are at an inflection point in a Longevity Revolution: our understanding of the underlying biology of the aging process has progressed to where laboratory discoveries are informing the choices we can make in our lifestyles and health today to increase our healthspan. Many of these breakthroughs are ready to be translated into human clinical trials to test new therapies and interventions for our most fearful and debilitating diseases so we can all live better longer.
Saturday, January 11 / 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Nature to the Rescue:
Its Wonder and Awe Can Help Us Find Purpose and Meaning
Louie Schwartzberg is an award-winning cinematographer who makes the invisible visible taking us on journeys of time and scale. People with a sense of purpose live longer, have healthier immune systems and experience greater resiliency. Looking into the world of a flower, a hummingbird, or a redwood tree, opens our heart as we witness the unseen interconnections taking place all around us. Nature’s wonder and awe can be the window into something much larger than ourselves—to help us find purpose and meaning. Wonder brings us into the present moment, allowing time to slow down. We become more patient and willing to support others, and that, in turn, inspires gratitude for the blessings in our lives. Cultivating awe is another way to sharpen our sense of purpose.

Secrets to a Healthy Home
Bill and Dr. Adriana Hayward have devoted their lives to creating healthy homes. Emerging science demonstrates our homes may be the single largest determinant of health and longevity in the 21st century. Our bodies are increasingly impacted physically, neurologically and psychologically by the toxic load in our home environment. Governmental agencies, health care professionals, and home builders aren't taking sufficient action, paralyzed by a sense of futility, apathy, or lack of current knowledge. So, we must do what is within our control. Although we can’t eliminate all environmental exposures, learn simple strategies to transform our homes into “regenerative” spaces that optimize health. The Hayward’s will share the principles and science of healthy indoor environments as well as the market transformational forces they are empowering to transform housing “so you can feel better” and live healthier longer.
Sunday, January 12 / 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
